The Right to Decide: Why We Choose Free-range Duck

At Highway4 we have selected free-range poultry from Naturally Vietnam because their standards are unique in Vietnam. Besides strict compliance with Vietnamese food safety regulations, they also adhere to accepted international food safety guidelines for both chemical and biological hazards.

The signs of quality are widespread in their work with further focus on animal welfare, environmental impact, sustainable activity for producers and fair trade. Their farms are also regularly visited by veterinarians to verify compliance with the standards.

“Free-Range” is low intensity farming whereby the animals have the right to roam freely in a natural environment; this is not only regarded as a considerably more humane method of farming but also ensures reduced risk of transmission of diseases from animals to humans. A natural environment with carefully administered feed guarantees improved living conditions and thus health for the animals.

Beginning in October, Highway4 Restaurants are once again making a strong statement regarding their selection of products by making a shift to a new green tea supplier. Adhering to Fair Trade regulations La Bằng Tea has taken a strong position in demanding satisfactory conditions for their farmers. In recent years the role of the tea co-operative has helped to improve the economic fortunes of poor communities in the Dai Tu region, Thai Nguyen province, and offered the chance of stable employment. 

 

La Bằng Tea does not only taste exceptionally refreshing but also assists in weight reduction making it the perfect finish to any meal at Highway4!

 

The Rice Bowl

According to the latest statistics from the Vietnam Food Association, the population of the two major urban centres, Hanoi and HCMC, is 90% supplied with poor quality rice. Spurred on by this concern Highway4 has carefully sought a new rice supplier for our restaurants, resulting in a rice which is not only clean and nutritious but perfect in taste. Đức Phương Rice is certificated by the General Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality.

There are reasons why many restaurants do not share facts about the origin of their foodstuffs. Meanwhile our free-range chickens are farmed by Naturally Vietnam in Soc Son to the north of Hanoi. Closely monitored by veterinarians, our free-range chickens are free of any hormones or antibiotics so you can enjoy true peace of mind when dining at Highway4.

Our happy free-range chickens are low intensity farmed. This humane farming reduces the risk of transmission of diseases as well as guaranteeing a better quality of life for the animals. The signs of quality in our free-range chickens are strict veterinary supervision, full traceability, animals farmed in free-range conditions, use of a real slaughterhouse, meat with flavour and texture, feed complying with feed safety standards, no use of hormones, and strict control of antimicrobial residues.
